Playstation blog: neemt Sony klanten serieus?

Sony heeft denk ik een goede stap genomen en is sinds gisteren officieel gestart met een PlayStation weblog. Dit is groot nieuws binnen de gaming community, want het is voor het eerst dat één van de drie console bedrijven (Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony) nu een officieel weblog is gestart. Wat is Sony van plan met de PlayStation.Blog?

In de woorden van Patrick Seybold, Senior PR manager bij SCEA:
PlayStation.Blog is a bit of work in progress, we see it as a place where we can share with you our company’s collective insights, opinions and perspectives on all things related to SCEA, PlayStation and the industry we play in. At the moment, we’re thinking about sharing all sorts of things here, ranging from product news and title announcements to developer updates and industry opinion posts – all of which will come straight from the people here inside SCEA who are working, thinking and playing with this stuff every day. [...] Now, what we’ve learned, perhaps the hard way, is that a blog like this is really about you and the things you want to hear, share and discuss with us. With that in mind, you’ll notice that comments are enabled – and encouraged – so tell us what you want to see here and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Inmiddels stromen de (positieve) reacties binnen en is het de grote vraag wat Sony in de nabije toekomst gaat doen met alle ontvangen feedback, commentaar, vragen en verzoeken. Er ligt veel druk op Sony en de verwachtingen voor de PS3 zijn torenhoog. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 en Nintendo’s Wii zijn sterke concurrenten en er is in afgelopen tijd veel kritiek geweest op Sony en de PS3. PlayStation.Blog zou hierdoor weleens belangrijker kunnen worden dan gedacht. Sony kan hier reageren op alle kritiek, gemaakte keuzes toelichten en luisteren naar wat gamers vertellen. Ik denk dat dit en hele goede stap is zolang ze maar open en eerlijk communiceren en de feedback van gebruikers serieus nemen.
